Thanks to everyone who submitted goals for city council consideration. During the month of January, Mayor Glenn A. Johnson accepted Pullman City Council goal suggestions for 2010 from the public, city employees and city departments. Sixty-two suggestions were received from individuals and citizen groups alone.
Binders containing the submitted goals are available for public viewing during business hours at Neill Public Library and the administration/finance office on the main floor of city hall. The final list of 2010 city council goals will be published after it is adopted by the council later this spring.
During a late-winter council retreat, the mayor, council and the city supervisor will develop a preliminary list of goals for 2010 after reviewing the status of 2009 goals, examining the submitted goals and submitting their own goal suggestions.
At a second retreat in the spring, the council will narrow and refine the goal list. Many of the initial goal suggestions will likely be considered to be administrative or ongoing in nature, so the fact that a suggested goal may not be included in the final list does not necessarily mean that the concept was rejected. In some cases the city council chooses to list goals from prior years in order to emphasize the importance of certain policy issues.
