Pullman, WA – The City of Pullman is launching a new community information service designed to deliver important and timely information to residents in our area using a web-based technology called Nixle. With Nixle, the Pullman Police Department can send out messages to subscribers alerting them to events such as road closures, serial crimes, safety precautions, community programs, and traffic information.Nixle subscribers can choose which media to receive their messages, including over the web, by email, by cell phone text message, or by all three.
Nixle is a free service to governmental agencies and subscribers, but text message rates may apply based upon your personal cellular plan.Because Nixle requires police agencies to go through a verification process, subscribers should feel confident that the information they receive came from the Pullman Police Department.
The Pullman Police Department will make this service available to area citizens on March 1, 2010.
